2021 Christmas Cards

I have been so very busy for several months with moving from one state to another
and having to get acclimated to a new area and become familiar with requirements in Texas.
Not easy to move - believe me!
I barely had the time to create,
so I'm really surprised I got these done!

This year, my cards are a bit on the 'pitiful' side,
but I was happy to finally use the
poinsettia edger die that I've had for a while.
I just wanted to let my closest friends and family know that I was thinking of them
during this Christmas season.

I used older Maja Design papers.

Thanks for stopping by
and have a wonderful & blessed Christmas season.

Love,
Lisa

2021 Favorite Creations

This was a very slow creation year, due to having to pack and move.
I've chosen my favorite creations this year,
which are mostly adult colorings.
I hope to learn a lot more about coloring so I can get better at it.

In order by creation date:

Thanks for viewing....
Very Merry Christmas
and have a HAPPY & Healthy New Year!

Taking a Break of Sorts

Hello Everyone!
I'm taking a 'break' of sorts.
I'm fixing to be on a new adventure soon!
MOVING to the GREAT state of Texas!

I will be near family, which is where I NEED to be!

Since becoming a widow and losing the absolute LOVE of my life to dementia, at the very young age of 65; enduring (like everyone else in Lake Charles, Louisiana) back to back strong hurricanes in Aug & Sept 2020, Laura & Delta (of which we have NOT NEARLY recovered from) ; then an ICE STORM in February 2021, which hasn't happened way down south here in La. since 1997 (we are a mere 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico) and is an unprecedented occurrence; THEN on top of ALL of this, we endured a 100-year FLOOD!!!! I have lived in my home for 24 years now and never once have seen a flood this bad or this close to my home!!

So, with the buying of a fabulous 8-1/2 year old home in Texas and also going through having to put my 24-year old updated/upgraded home on the market
(AFTER I MOVE OUT)......
Along with taking care of finalizing (FINALLY
my dear husband's Succession,
I am so ready to move forward!

Please bare with me as I continue to take care of needed situations in my life and head towards a fun and new venture ahead!!

Some where - probably 2022, I'll begin coloring and scrapbooking and card making once again!
Who knows what's in my future with new friends that I will make
in my new neighborhood of 55+!

Thank you for checking in on me and for continuing to follow me.
I promise that there will be more to come.
I'm considering a NEW BLOG solely about my adorable, loving companions - Miss Gali & Lucy, of course!
I'm thinking about starting from when they first came to live with
me & Joe all the way up to present.
They are so worth SHARING!
They TRULY ARE the LOVES of my life!

XOXO
Please stay close and stay in touch!
Many thanks,
Lisa

Hummingbird

I'm trying to get back into coloring,
so I chose to do a hummingbird that I could make colorful.
It's from the coloring book "Birds" by Georgie Woolridge.
It has a bit of zentangle style about it.
And it's special because it was a gift from my sister!

And the rest of the photos show close ups.

Thanks for your visit and have a nice day!
Lisa

Shadowbox Memorial for a dog named Money

My very dear friend, Kay, asked if I could put something together as a memorial for her precious dog, Money, who passed away at the age of 19 in 2019.

The shadowbox frame she gave me was black,
so I spray painted it in "Coastal Blue",
because Kay's mother's favorite color was blue.
Kay gave me a stack of photos to choose from.
I decided to make sure that her mother was part of this memorial
because she loved Money so much!

This shadowbox requires stick pins because the backing
is velvety black on top of styrofoam.
The frame is 11x14, which is larger than the usual 12x12 scrapbook papers that I work with, so I used two pages from the same paper collection with blues (for Kay's Mom's favorite color) and pinks (for Kay's favorite color).

The Dusty Attic chipboard was more than perfect for this memorial!!

Lastly, a close up of Money's actual paw print.
I put a spot of glue in the center to adhere it to
a heart that I made in the same paper collection.
I decorated the heart shape with lace trim.
God.....please bless her sweet heart!

THANK YOU SO MUCH
for viewing Money's Shadowbox Memorial.
God bless ALL animals, especially those beloved to humans.
Without our pets, we would be lonely.....
at least that's MY personal belief!
Have a lovely day and please continue to stay safe.

Wooden Hanging Memorial for a dog named Money

A very dear friend's dog named "Money" passed in 2019 at the age of 19.
Money was an Australian Shepherd
and as sweet as the day is long!

Her owner, my dear friend, Kay, was such a fabulous caretaker for her.
Kay asked for a Memorial for her precious furbaby,
so she gave me a stack of photos to choose from.

My wonderful friend, Danny, put together three boards that he white washed
and even put the hanger on the back!
This serves as the base for the Wall Hanging Memorial of Money.

All frames are size 5x7, so each photo was enlarged to fit.
I opted to leave the frames white and use pops of color
 through embellishments and flowers.

Starting with the top left corner and going around the memorial in a
clockwise fashion, here are explanations of each element.

Baby Girl

Kay referred to Money as "Baby Girl".
I chose to use this nickname with this adorable photo of Money
when she was very young and small.

The words "baby girl" are coated in Liquid Pearls color "Flamingo"
and then "Cotton Candy" Stickles help tone down the color.

The paw prints are paint brushed with Tim Holtz Distress Inks
"Weathered Wood" and "Fired Brick" (on the hearts only).

A pretty flower arrangement with a flourish underneath
dress the other side of the frame.

The mini hearts are paint brushed with TH Distress Ink color "Worn Lipstick" and then topped with several coats of other colors until it looked good to my eyes.
These are the other colors I used.....
TH's "Weathered Wood" and ColorBox "Shabby Pink".

Just to the right of "Baby Girl" are some embellishments that I hot-glued directly onto the wood board.  These separate the top two framed photos.

Two Paw Prints are paint brushed in gray with red hearts.
The gorgeous butterfly is one of my most faves by ReneaBouquets!

precious

The next framed photo of Money just made me think "PRECIOUS"!
AWWW!  Bless her sweet heart!
For this one, I chose to decorate it with magenta & blues.

The paw print heart, the word precious & the heart in the center of the paw print
are heat embossed in Blue Fern Studios EP color "Fuchsia".
The arrows & the paw print are inked in deep navy blue "Night Sky".

I chose some really unique and gorgeous butterflies for this frame.
They are by ReneaBouquets and are named "Mosaic Tile".
A close up shows you how detailed this beauty is!

Now for Money's collars.
The pink, large one was worn for many years
and the very small red one, when she was young.
Kay kept every single rabies tag!
The easiest way to hang these are by a cup hook.
In the center I hot-glued a red paw print heart to the wood.

Next is such a perfectly beautiful photo to show you.
This one I titled "Sweet".
Such a gorgeous dog with a personality to match!

Varying colors of pinks, blues & yellows look great with this photo.
ReneaBouquets butterflies match perfectly with Money's colors!

The Heart Swirly & the word "Sweet" are heat embossed with Blue Fern Studios EP color "Pink Peppermint", which is a pretty pink with red specks.

Pretty coordinating flowers,
especially the pink Prima ones just make this frame so feminine!

Next is Money's play ball.
After thinking and then searching...
I came up with a way to include Money's beloved ball on this memorial!
I had a white organza gift bag that was a perfect fit to hold the ball!
To dress it up a bit, I sprayed it with Lindy's Gang
Starburst  spray "Cotton Candy Pink".
Then I adhered hot pink glitter shapes to make it really pop!
(note: this ball glows in the dark...awwwww)

The last framed photo, but by no means the least important,
is a wonderful photo of Money.
Such a gorgeous girl!

I wanted Money's name to glisten....

ReneaBouquet's moths are beyond stunning!
I love these because of the pink glitter glass on them!
They look fabulous with Money's colors!
Also, the white rose is paint-brushed with
Lindy's Starburst (retired color) Gregarious Gray.

A beautiful centering of flowers for this precious girl!
