Fun in the 40's

49 and Market's new Irrevocable Beauty
is such a stunning collection!

I chose a photo that features four teenagers that seem to be having a lot of fun.  It's in the later 1940's, but I'm not positive of the date.
The gorgeous girl facing the camera and smiling is my mother.

I LOVE this photo because it really tells a story.
Mom's friend, Hazel, and her boyfriend decided to smooch;
the boy Mom is with is pointing his finger (at the other guy I presume)
as if to say 'I KNEW you would do that!'
And there's my Mom just giggling.
I wonder who took this photo.
Whoever it was, they sure captured a really fun scene!

Behind the photo are two rectangle pieces I cut from other pages.
I used an Exacto knife to cut the clock halfway so that the photo and papers could be slipped under it.
Tiny purple rhinestones mark each Roman Numeral
and copper colored clock hands were added with a brad to hold them in place.
This is how my layout design began.

The Laser Cut Elements in this collection are adorable!
I used quite a bit (flowers, leaves, pods, honeybees, a grasshopper, a keyhole heart).  Every piece enhanced this layout and brought it to its final design.

Beginning in the center below the photo, I placed pretty purple flowers,
popping them up with foam tape for dimensional interest.

US ArtQuest recently added new colors to their Prills!
The Prills you will see, mainly spread onto the layout,
are a gorgeous combination of red burgundy & wine.
It's appropriately named "Remgrant".

Let's go around the photo in clockwise fashion
to see all of the beautiful elements.

On the bottom left of the photo are two white Chrysanthemums
which were the closest I had in my stash to a daisy.
Placing a honeybee in one of them was just too cute.
I used Frosted Lace Stickles on the wings.
Also, please notice the GORGEOUS Prills
that I glued in the center of the laser cut out flower just above the bee.

The laser cut pods are very cool!

Along the left side of the photo, I placed a daisy laser cut that is raised on one side with foam tape so that the other side rests on the bg paper.
To its center I've added prills in Heart of Gold color.
Another laser cut honeybee with glittery Stickle wings, like all of the bees on this layout, is popped up using a foam circle.
By the way, my mother LOVED daisies!
This is why I chose this particular page and all of the Daisy laser cuts!

Just above is another Daisy laser cut I chose,
but this one is tucked under the photo bg papers.
Heart of Gold prills were added to its center.
and.....another sweet honeybee hovering above.

Since the print in the paper has wire fencing,
I chose to cut a piece of The Dusty Attic's Chicken Wire to coordinate with it.
I've painted it with Metallic Antique Copper acrylic paint.
This made a nice spot in the high left corner of the page
to place a flower arrangement with 49 and Market flowers
 in Twilight & Mint colors.
The Dusty Attic's word ticket is dabbed with lavender ink.
The word is very fitting for the photo,
as is the heart lock from the laser cuts.

On the right top edge of the photo,
I placed several laser cuts in a grouping to form an arrangement.
Like the others, the Daisy was given Heart of Gold prills in its center.

I saw the most adorable little scene on one of the papers and decided to cut it out and use it to start decorating the bottom right of the photo.
It's flowers growing next to the cutest little wooden heart!
How perfect is that for this photo with all that kissing going on?

Another flower arrangement of 49 and Market Twilight & Mint colored flowers
is set just below the wooden heart cut out.
Below those are laser cuts that I made dimensional with foam tape and also decorated the centers with tiny Champagne/Cream pearls.

Finally, here are photos of the right and left sides of the layout.
You can see that I've added two sizes of white pearls on the paper
(instead of splashes of gesso).

Pretty Blue Eyes

I took a photo of this beauty in June 2019.
It's been on my scrap desk for many, many months
because I just could never find the right paper until now.

I've never seen a lizard with such pretty blue eyes!

With the ongoing concerns of the coronavirus pandemic,
I'm purposefully in isolation as much as possible.
This COVID-19 has been very disheartening & really
brings down my emotions and mood,
so I wanted to scrap a cheerful page.

Rummaging through much older stash I found the perfect
Kaisercraft page in the Sweet Nothings collections.
The peachy-rose tones of the Christmas Cactus, along with those beautiful blue eyes made this page named "Silver Lining" a fabulous match!

First I placed the photo on cardboard to pop it up.
From there, I pulled older flower stash, as well as Wycinanka chipboard.

I had fun with a Michael's bargain bin large blue flower to take up space,
adding smaller flowers alongside in different colors.
I even had fun with a Rub-On from this Kaisercraft collection.
It's been "forever" since I've used one.
I need to do that more often!
The rub-on is the yellow flower in the corner.

The opposite corner of the page has pretty printed flowers
with an overlay of tiny blue dots.
I randomly placed small flower arrangements
to incorporate them in with the printed ones.
I tried a very old rub-on that wouldn't rub off,
so I cut it out and glued it instead.

Years ago, I bought some Wycinanka chipboard.
I chose the right size corner frame pieces
and dabbed the edges with "Blue Lagoon" ink by ColorBox.
I can't help it!  LOOK at those EYES!  She's sooooooo pretty!

So, it really is good to hold on to your stash
because you never know when the right photo will come along for it!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great, safe and healthy week!
