Milk & Wine Lilies

The Milk & Wine lily is beautiful pure white with a cranberry colored stripe down the center of each petal. My BFF so graciously replanted quite a lot of my Dad's lilies, including these beauties.  I was able to photograph them recently in her garden.  As you can see they hang downward when they bloom and have a single stalk with multiple blooms.  I'm so lucky to be able to see my Dad's lilies doing so well and growing healthy.

This is a very simple layout, but that's just the way I wanted it.

The title is computer printed and cut out using a 1" circle punch;
and then adhered with foam dots in the perfect spot!

Before beginning the design, I applied a thin layer of clear gesso on the entire page.  Then to not over-power the photos, stenciling of a simple crackle design was done with modeling paste.  Light misting of Lindy's Stamp Gang's Starburst color Alpine Ice Rose added some color and sparkle to the page.

Using a craft nib dipped in "Razzberry" pigment ink, I drew stripes down the center of each petal on some white lilies to replicate the Milk & Wine Lily.  I added a few handmade curly white wire embellishments too.

Of course, the layout wouldn't be complete without the beautiful BFS chipboard heat embossed in Shabby White that has pretty gold flecks in it.  Chartreuse colored Prills make such an interesting texture.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!  Lisa : )

Happy Day Easel/Shaker Card

Hi everyone and welcome!  Today I'm sharing with you the very first easel card I made!  I sent it to a very dear friend to wish her a Happy Day.   It's like a first love....I'm partial to it because it is my first easel card creation and the icing on my cake is that my very sweet, dear friend liked it!

My desire to create an easel card with some shaker elements came when I was rummaging through my stash of paper collections.  I ran across this cute Bo Bunny Zip-a-Dee-Doodle collection and when I saw the 'happy day' layered chipboard, I knew that I had to make a card for this very special friend of mine.  So, although this is my very first easel card, I want her to know that the desire to make it came from my feelings towards her as a dear friend.  So she was my 'guinea pig' in a way.  I also tried my hand at doing a little bit of shaker style embellishing, which is to use acrylic as the 'window' and then place beads or other tiny things inside, surrounded by foam board to keep the goodies inside.

I used the Bo Bunny Zip-a-Dee-Doodle page named "Meow" - GO FIGURE!  LOL!  Me using a page named 'Meow'!  LOL!  This was the base for the entire card.  I cut out butterflies and embellished one of them with black rhinestones and both with handmade antennae; cut out flowers and added foam tape beneath them for added dimension.

Some punching, embroidery thread stitching and stickers from the collection helped spruce it up!

Here is the inside of the card with a pop of red.

I custom designed an envelope for the card, using the page from the Bo Bunny paper collection named "Margo", which you can see is paisley print (I have always been very drawn to paisley print).

Here is the card fully open

Here is to my sweet friend....Have a very happy day!

Brianne's Special Easel Card

I designed a very special easel card just for my daughter, Brianne.

Blue Fern Studios gorgeous paper from their Sanctuary collection has a beautiful color palette of plum, brown tones, teal, yellow & white.  First I computer printed a personal heartfelt 'mother to daughter' note on the bottom of the card.

The BFS Floral Lattice Bits chipboard is heat embossed in Fran-táge Aged Teal.  This beautiful aged teal has gold flecks in it.  I added some decorative elements to it - prills, roses, bling & stickles.  All bling used on this card was recolored with Currant colored alcohol ink.

Because of the beauty of the printed bird and flowers, I chose to keep the inside of the card simple.

The chipboard word is from Want2Scrap.
I inked it with Raisin colored Archival Pigment ink and then topped it with Crackle Accents.

I also decided to add a piece of chipboard for more stability and first covered it with some BFS paper from their Blush collection.  Then I stenciled it with crackle texture paste.  Once it was completely dry, I spritzed a little bit of Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst color Sassy Sapphire and then their Moon Shadow Mist color Treasure Island Aqua
Finally, I added a floral arrangement with a resin birdcage.

I punched a pretty section from another piece of the same paper used for the main front of the card.
This piece was matched up to the design on the left hand side, as you can see in the close up below.

BFS Diamonds & Loops chipboard added an interesting element to the card.
It is heat embossed in Fran-táge Aged Ivory (has gold flecks in it).
I placed bling inside each diamond shape.

In the center of the front of the card, I created a floral arrangement and made sure to include teal colored flowers because of the teal color in the paper that you can see just behind and above the arrangement.  To the gypsophila white flowers, I inked the tips with Raisin color Archival Pigment ink.  I also added some of this beautiful Raisin ink on the paper in various random areas.  The card measures 8" x 12".

Then I created a box envelope for Brianne's card.  The lace trim is sprayed with LSG Moon Shadow Mist Treasure Island Aqua; and this same spray was also misted all over the box so when you turn it under bright light or in the sun, you will see the teal shimmer sparkles.

The box is completely lined on the outside with sheer ribbon ending with a tied bow so that it can be hung on the wall.  I recolored the ribbon with a GORGEOUS retired color from Lindy's - Amaryllis Burgundy.  I cannot believe that they would retire such an outstanding plum-ish color!  I hope they bring it back someday.  The box envelope measures 9" long x 5-1/4" high x 1-1/2" deep.

A close up of the flower arrangement & 'dream' pebble on the box.

I brought this custom designed card & box envelope to my daughter today.  Made a day trip from Louisiana to Sugarland, Texas just outside of Houston.  Had a great day with Brianne, her wonderful & awesomely funny husband John and my sweet hubby, Joe.  Brianne loved her card :)    And my Grand-kitties are doing great!  I picked up Marcy, the ornery Calico, and kissed her and talked to her...telling her how much "Gwamma loves her".  I swear, she remembers me!  She used to live with us years ago.  It really MADE my day to see her and kiss her.  I was so happy to see Brianne too....and of course my dear SIL.  :)

Here is the full card opened up...the center is another piece of chipboard covered with gorgeous Blue Fern Studios paper that I added for additional stability.
Ahhhhhh....I feel so peaceful now.

Have a great weekend!  Lisa :)
