Carrie's Friendship/Birthday Easel Card

I made an easel card for my very sweet friend, Carrie, for her upcoming birthday.
She & I have really hit it off since we met and I've enjoyed her friendship very much.
Besides scrapping, we are both cat lovers & owners.  We talk about both in detail.
She's very upbeat, witty and intelligent.  I love reading anything she writes about. : )

I used Blue Fern Studios Blush collection papers to make the card & envelope.
I love the feminine feel and the colors are beautiful.

I like to make easel cards at least 8" wide; this one is 8-1/2".
Also, I really like making the top piece smaller in width than the main card because it adds interest.
This top piece measures 8" wide, leaving 1/4" on either side
so the contrasting pink main card color accentuates the edges.

The word "Friendship" is computer printed on the paper to fit nicely inside
The Dusty Attic chipboard Decorative Frame #1.
Carrie has been using lots of pretty shiny gold in her layouts lately so I chose BFS Imagine Ink embossing powder color 14 Karat and I think it looks "fantabulous" against the aqua tones!

Next, The Dusty Attic chipboard Elegant Swirls #13 was heat embossed in
BFS Imagine Ink color Speckled Mint and placed in the center at the bottom.
It's as close as I could get to one of Carrie's favorite colors "seafoam"!

I coordinated the shape of the swirl chipboard with a Martha Stewart corner punch Crotchet Loop.
Tiny white pearls on the diamond points add extra femininity.

I decorated the inside "hidden part" of the easel with some pretty white lace.

For the inside of the main card, I created the rest of the sentiment.
I want Carrie to know that I cherish our friendship.
The Dusty Attic chipboard Teeny Tiny ABCs are acrylic painted in bright white.
The Want2Scrap chipboard word "cherish" is heat embossed in BFS Imagine Ink color Pink Peppermint

A flower arrangement was added to coordinate with the colors in the top piece paper.

Some close ups of the flowers:

And here is the smaller flower arrangement with a small butterfly:

The butterflies are scanned & fussy cut from the same BFS Blush paper collection.
I added Frosted Lace Stickles to the wing tips & 22g wire antennae on the larger one.

The largest of The Dusty Attic set Elegant Swirls #13 serves as the foundation
to hold the opened easel card in place.

It lines up perfectly with the smaller swirl when the card is in easel position.

The envelope I made measures 9" x 5-1/4" x 1-1/2".
Two 24" pieces of seam binding were sprayed with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst color Salt Water Taffy and after they dried, random spritzes of Starburst color Cotton Candy Pink added a tiny bit of a darker pink.
The seam binding was scor-taped to the envelope and tied off in a simple bow.
This allows Carrie to keep her card inside the envelope and hang it on the wall out of the way if she wants.
I lined the top of the envelope with the same pretty white lace used on the inside part of the card.
One side of the envelope is decorated with white pearls.

I really enjoyed making this for my sweet friend! She's such a complete doll!
She makes me laugh & smile.

A GREAT BIG Happy Birthday to sweet Carrie!
I'm so happy to say that Carrie received her card and she likes it!!  YAY!

Thanks for viewing and I hope you have a wonderful week!  Lisa : )

Vintage Tag

I created a vintage tag for a swap I joined on scrapbook.com.
It's total size is 4-3/8" wide x 6-3/4" long.
This is the first time I've ever created one so I started with the idea of two tiers.
I settled on using chipboard covered with pretty paper.

The base is edged with clear crackle over Distress Ink color Tattered Rose and then sprayed with
Lindy's Stamp Gang Moonshadow Mist color Buccaneer Bronze.
The backside is covered in Blue Fern Studios paper where I signed & dated it for my swap partner.
The top piece is also covered in BFS paper which set the vibe & inspiration for the decorations I used.

After the two pieces were adhered together with foam tape, it was time to decorate!
But I faced a dilemma------my Crop-a-dile hole puncher wouldn't open up wide enough because of the thickness!  YIKES!  But luckily the 'little light in my head clicked on' and I used a drill bit to do the job!!  LOL!  It worked BEAUTIFULLY!  I was then able to run my ribbons through and tie them off in a simple bow.

Decorating began with a Tim Holtz Metal Ornate Plate.
I printed a photo of my 'obsession' - the early 1900's Super Model, Evelyn Nesbit.
I have created many layouts of her:
(Evelyn, Timeless Beauty, Imagine, Sweet Tuxedo, The Classy Evelyn Nesbit, 1925 Fashionista, Gypsy Soul).

The photo was cut to fit snugly inside the ornate plate; pretty feathers placed under it;
and then the plate was glued down, offsetting it on the tag.

I stenciled a few small designs on the bottom of the tag with Copper Crackle.
For an antiqued look, I rubbed the crackle with my fingertip along the edges of the tag
and also in random areas in the center of the tag.

Finally, some flower arrangements with snippets of ivory colored lace and leaf die cuts completed the tag.
As I do with my scrapbook layouts, I incorporated the print in the paper as part of the design.

Thanks for dropping by!  Have a great week!  Lisa : )
