I've been having a ton of fun & relaxation lately creating some simple layouts full of memories!
In April 2011 my dear husband, Joe and I were so lucky to go on a short driving trip with our best friends, Carmel & Anthony to the wonderful and iconic New Orleans.
As we strolled through the streets in and around the French Quarter, we came across this absolutely ADORABLE "cat house"! There were at least 8-12 cats strolling around on the porch and if you look very closely in the left section of the porch area, there's one snoozing with its head upside down. >^..^<
Of course the owner is a cat lover one hundred fold!
The photo was my inspiration. I felt that the photo had enough decoration so I didn't want to over do anything with a bunch of flowers and embellishments. Then the idea came to me to draw the outline of a cat!
I outlined my drawing with black rhinestones.
Blue Fern Studios paper and chipboards were perfect for this photo!
I decided to decorate with the harlequin design, which is soooo New Orleans.
I stenciled this design as well as used ruby colored tiles to match the color in the photo.
The chipboard pieces coordinate ultra great with the design of the decorative posts of this gorgeous cat house porch! I made strands to mimic the ones in the photo, but mine are in Mardi Gras colors of Green, Gold & Purple. Another sooooo New Orleans!
Thanks for visiting and please come again!
Lisa : )

What a fun memory and beautiful layout! I can imagine you were right at home here LOL! I love the cat--never seen anything like that before and it's so cute! So you ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Carrie! Yes, when I saw the cat house I think my excitement startled my group (LOL). I was in complete awe! I free handed the cat from one I found when I googled cat outlines. Simple but makes a bold statement about the photo >^..^<.
DeleteBeautiful! Love the red tiles and the rhinestone cat!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Tracy! I'm trying to use my stash, which is on overload so the tiles came in handy : ) The cat is free hand drawn from one that I found when I googled 'cat outlines'.
DeleteHi Lisa....first of all thanks for the wonderful comments everywhere! I loved this page when I saw it--that cat is so cool and innovative! I was reading that you started in 2010 and it was your 1st craft---wow you do faaaaaaaaaaabulous work...I have been at it since the late 1990s and it IS my 1st (& ONLY!) craft ever in my life! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Really nice work, Lisa. I love how you took so many clues from the photograph and replicated them in your own clever way. The cat outline is just so neat. I love how it's placed so that the garland in the photo looks like a collar around its neck. The subtle harlequin stenciling is really pretty. Beautiful details all around. TFS.
