 Bored today and not in the mood for very detailed coloring,

so I chose this wonderful sow that I imagined is basking in the sun!

Cock of the Walk - Ken Matsuda Art

 I'm a little obsessed with coloring right now, 

but unafraid of burn out....

too many fabulous artistic, unusual drawings to peak my interest!

You'll understand why I titled this coloring "Cock of the Walk". 

WOW!

You can just TELL that he's struttin' his stuff!

I researched roosters on the internet to get an idea of their coloring. 

I was totally BLOWN AWAY!!!!

The colorful roosters are incredibly stunning birds!

I honestly never knew this about them.

They have bright yellows, orange, red, purples, blues 

and even irridescent emerald greens!

I felt that 'anything goes' with a rooster. 

So, that's what I did.....made Mr. Handsome very colorful!

I did learn something in my coloring of him.

In some areas, I had too many layers of colors

 that were all applied with more than the usual pressure. 

This caused waxy build up. UGH!

But, I've learned & hopefully won't make this mistake in the future.

Alligator Hatchling - Ken Matsuda Art

 This may actually be a Caiman, 

but I prefer it to be an alligator

 because I'm a Louisianian and everybody knows 

that besides Florida, Louisiana has LOTS of alligators!

What I LOVE so much about Ken Matsuda's art 

is that it allows you to let your imagination go where it may!

Such unusual drawings.  All very very cool!

I almost colored the alligator purple, 

but I decided that he looked better in green.

The Red Squirrel & The Robin - Ken Matsuda Art

 What a FUN page to color!!

I mimicked the colors of a red squirrel and of a robin. 

This is another fabulous drawing by Japanese artist Ken Matsuda.

I used Faber-Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils. 

I'm having a trying time with them. 

They are as smooth as butter, 

but I can't seem to not have streaks! 

Hopefully I will learn how to better handle them. 

The ground and the background are colored using 

Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Colored Pencils.

These are very chalky colored pencils that really require blending.

I love to use them for backgrounds. 

Using a Q-Tip to blend the coloring works very well. 

For this page I didn't fill in the background completely, 

but rather left it in desired streaks.

With such a whimsical drawing, 

the mushrooms just had to be colorful!
