Pineapple Haven

 It was time to color another whimsical & imaginary page!

You can see why I've titled this one "Pineapple Haven".

There are so many colors to choose from in the 

Prismacolor Premier set of 150 colored pencils.

For the pineapple, I chose Celadon Green, which takes on a gray-blue tint.  Highlights of Artichoke color are mixed in.

Now for the fun part!

The close ups!

One thing I've learned is that close ups show all of the 'flaws' in coloring. 

I usually go back and re-color the spots that 'bother' me.

It's not easy to be 100% perfect when coloring very tiny details no matter how good your vision is.

I'll point out whimsical things in each photo.....

At the top of the artichoke are pollen puffs with eyes 

and the cutest "Dough Boy" wearing a Viking hat!

What appears to be a Stingray on the left; 

a Bumble Bee; and an Apple. 

A purple Cat; a Dragon; a Toucan; and a Rooster.

A middle view atop the pineapple

reveals the Toucan; the Rooster; and a 10-point Buck.

The Dragon's tail where a lizard is climbing to get on it;

and odd flowers holding a lady's ring.

Pretty flowers and a flag.

Another photo with the Buck; a flying Dough Boy; a Snail; and a Butterfly.

Remember the coloring book I told you about that really 'demands' unusual colors?

 

Well, here's another awesome page from Kerby Rosanes' coloring book,

 Kaleidomorphia!

I know, I know, I know....

peace lilies are supposed to be white. 

But not here!

Mine are peach with light blue stamen.

There's so many interesting, fairytale creatures!

Firefly Fairies, a squirrel with a crown, a Great Blue Heron nestled in the leaves, centipedes, an umbrella, a snail with a shell, pollen puffs, 

brightly colored mushrooms.....and.......

half an arm with a hand growing out of the ground?!

And frowning "Paw Paw" mushrooms - LOL!

This Paw Paw shroom seemed to be upset that the centipede is back!

Now for the rest.

The roots of the plant remind me of legs,

which I believe Kerby, the artist, intended them to be.

A squirrel with a hot pink colored crown.

A Firefly Fairy sliding down a flower stem, 

an umbrella & a purple centipede.

A purple snail with a pink shell.

A Great Blue Heron nestled in the leaves.

I laughed at this Firefly Fairy.  

It looks like a little "smart ass"!  LOL!

Another really fun & relaxing time coloring!

Butterfly Skull

 From Kerby Rosanes latest coloring book, Kaleidomorphia,

I chose this awesome skull!! 

This is a coloring book that 'demands' the unusual with colors.

I even gave her rosy cheeks!

Here are the rosy cheeks up close.

Doesn't she appear to be laughing?

Because of all of the butterflies, 

mostly on top of her head, 

I decided that her head needed to be green....like a meadow.

I selected certain colors and stayed with those 

to make the butterflies very bright.  

The close up photos of them really show the flaws 

that come with coloring very tiny details....

(i.e. coloring outside a line; not fully coloring in a space).

But, I'm very pleased with the colorfulness of this page. 

Now for the FUN part!

Kerby Rosanes is known for inserting objects or animals into his drawings.

Those 'things' that just do NOT belong.
