My dear & very sweet friend, Diana,
recently found her one & only duck band
while unpacking some boxes.
She wanted to somehow keep it safe,
so after going online, I found the actual certificate
that she received back in 2008,
as well as the duck stamp for that year.
This is what I've come up with for her.
For those that don't know,
a duck stamp is bought by a hunter, which is their license,
that allows them the legal right to hunt ducks & geese in a given year.
Some ducks & geese are banded,
meaning a metal band is put around the bird's leg
and it has a unique number on it.
This number allows tracking the bird to see how far it migrated.
Unfortunately, the only way to track it is when it's killed
and the hunter turns in the band number to
Wildlife & Fisheries, which begins the process of
a certificate being generated that's given to the hunter.
Diana isn't able to locate her original duck stamp or the certificate,
which is why I printed them from the internet for this display.
It's actually a surprise.
She knows that I had the idea of framing the printed
certificate & duck stamp with the duck band,
but she doesn't know that I've completed it all.
I'm really excited to surprise her with it today.
(UPDATE: She was both THRILLED & surprised to get this!!)
I found this 8x10 shadowbox at Hobby Lobby.
It's actually velvet adhered to styrofoam that you can pin things on it.
I used Original Gorilla Glue to adhere the certificate & duck stamp,
both of which are 1st glued to a piece of cardboard.
The Original Gorilla Glue can be used on any surface,
which made it the best choice in this case.
I decided to place a brad to hold the black twine in place
that I've tied to the duck band.
Thanks for visiting and have a very blessed day!
