Stained Glass - Butterfly 12

I pulled out a very old coloring book
of vellum pages that give a stained glass look.
I've never colored in this one before.
My first pick is page 12 in the book.

You can actually hang these in a window
and the sun shining through it will make it look like stained glass.

One thing I found out about vellum paper
is that pastel pencils do not hold on to it.
I assume that a more waxy pencil is needed,
which is why I used my Prismacolors.

Next are close ups of the flowers & the butterfly.

Thanks for visiting!
Have a great day,
Lisa

Psalm 117:2 The Truth of the Lord Endures Forever

After recently receiving a wonderful coloring book for my 60th Birthday
from my Godfather and his wonderful wife,
I was ready to get started right away!

Every page in this coloring book has excerpts from the book of Psalm
that are meaningful and beautiful,
but this particular page really lured me in!
I was attracted to it because of the beautiful flowers & leaves.

Of course I HAD to color the flowers in my favorite color purple!

I wish I would've taken a photo of this page BEFORE I colored it.
So far, with all of the colorings I've done,
I believe that this one has been the most 'intense'.
I tried to interpret the illustration artist's drawings of the leaves.

When you are looking at a black & white image with tiny details like this
you really have to 'study' them to decide whether you are looking at the leafy part or is it actually the background of the page?
I did my best and I think I did well in my decisions.
I had to use the electric eraser several times though😉

This close up is the medallion in the center of the page.

I chose a Faber-Castell pastel pencil in a chartreuse color
for the back ground of the page and the medallion.
This chartreuse color is more a Yellow Chartreuse,
but for those who aren't familiar with the color,
it's a yellow-green and can be either
more yellow or more green.

Blending stumps were used in the tight spots around the leaves and flowers
to smooth out the pastel pencil colors.
Using Q-tips to blend large areas works faster than blending stumps
and looks just as smooth!

The flowers are colored using 4 different purples
in Prismacolor Premier color pencils.
The leaves are two green colors in Faber-Castell pastel pencils.
And the stamen in the center of each flower is a golden yellow color
in Faber-Castell pastel pencil.

Thank you for viewing my page.
Continue staying safe & healthy
and please pray for all those affected by these terribly cold winter storms!
I live in SW Louisiana and we got down to an unprecented 16 degrees
in the wee hours of Wednesday, Feb 16th.
We just don't get this kind of cold down here,
along with ice, sleet and snow!

I trimmed this coloring to 8 x 10 size
and it's now framed and part of the decor
in 'the purple bedroom'.

If you wait long enough everything comes back in style

Had a little practice fun with Faber-Castell Chalk Pastel Pencils!
Experimented with shading
and how to make a no-line background.
I have much to learn but practicing is fun!

I chose a very fun page as you can see!

This is a close up of the two shades of blue I used in the moon;
the two shades of green for the T-Rex;
and shadings of the bonnet & scarf.

This is where the title of my coloring comes from.
It's written by the illustration artist, Jenny Lawson.

Thanks to my sister for the wonderful birthday gifts of the Faber-Castell chalk pastel pencils AND this delightful book!

Thx for dropping in for a peek.
Stay safe, healthy & happy,
Lisa

Jaguar - MORPH

 Check out this morphed Jaguar!

I colored the jaguar as closely to the real markings of them.
They have white from their nose to the jaw area;
then under the chin and down the chest.

The 'morph' side is my version, which is bright and colorful.

Starting with some close ups of the jaguar's face....
Let me first tell you that I used the wonderful birthday gift from my sister of
Faber-Castell Pitt Pastel Pencils for the background.
I chose a color, that I would say is Sage Green, which is F-C #1122-172.
Blending these pastels is mind-blowing awesome!
All it takes is a Q-Tip!!!

The jaguar is also colored in a F-C pastel pencil (#1122-183) and then topped very lightly with Prismacolor pencil PC 1033 Mineral Orange.
The eye is done in PC 1089 (Pale Sage)

The jaguar's teeth are colored in PC 1012 (Jasmine) for the base color,
followed by PC 940 (Sand) for shadings.

And so the morphing begins......

So, let's begin the colorful journey of odd little unknown creatures as well as some known creatures that might be colored oddly....

A majestic BUCK among ghostly odd beings!

Two birds flying, that I decided to make them Blue Footed Boobies.

And of course there is a vampire octopus!
Along with a mad tree stump and a beautiful koy fish.

Rainbows, purple jellyfish and parachuting puff thingy's! HA

This is by far my FAVE of all 'odd beings' in this morph!
It's a mad thunderstorm cloud!!!!
Don't you just LOVE him?!

And of course a Sphynx (naked cat)!
So light pink that you almost miss it!

 A Chinese Dragon and a fingery what-cha-ma-call-it
and a narwhal plus a very very scared blue ghost!

Oh and then one of my FAVES...
the fatty purple dino with red eyes!

and let's not forget robotics with bunnies and bird houses!

Thank you for viewing my morph coloring!
Very relaxing indeed!
Takes days for me because my eyes can only take so much!

Be safe and continue to care for yourself!
Love,
Lisa
