Whatcha Readin' ?

My daughter sent me this photo of Marcy, my favorite Grand-kitty, on 4/7/17.
Marcy loves her MaMa more than anyone on Earth and sometimes she's just got to show up
in the wrong place at the wrong time for attention - LOL!
I usually scrap her in very vivid Fall colors, but not this time!
It's all girl!

I rummaged through my old stash, which I have a lot of, and found this wonderful
2011 Echo Park paper collection "Times & Seasons".
It has the perfect old newspaper print that I cut into a shape I liked;
then edge inked in jet black and adhered to the main page.

After positioning the photo, I used foam adhesive circles to mount The Dusty Attic  chipboard Flourish Frame at an angle to make a diamond shape.  It's heat embossed in Blue Fern Studios magnificent Imagine Ink color Celestial with its jet black base and tiny specks of red, green, blue & gold!

To help tone down the stark black, I added The Dusty Attic Swirly Vines #3  to two sides of the diamond shape.  These are heat embossed in Stampendous! color Blushing Pink.
This is a very pretty baby pink but I felt it needed to be toned down as well.
So, I stamped it in jet black archival ink.

Since I off-centered the photo and large chipboard,
I decided to add a flower arrangement in the top left corner of the page.
Thanks to my daughter's MIL, Molly, who gave me these wonderful ivory/mint latex roses.

Since this page is about 'reading', I used the stick on letters from this paper collection to spell the word 'read' which I adhered to chipboard and cut out, inking the edges in jet black.

Such a fun layout to create!
Have a great week!
Lisa : )

  1. Beautiful, Lisa! I love the way you used different punches along the edges and the various ways you used the pearls!

  2. What a pretty layout. I totally agree with Tracy; the way you punched the edges with a variety of punches is so clever and different. The addition of the little white pearls makes it even more special. Great idea using that book page patterned paper at the center of your layout. It's just perfect for the cute photo. The chipboard frame placed at an angle also looks nice. Great job. TFS. ☺

I had to look up on your profile to see where you are from. Landry is such a common Acadian name here in New Brunswick, Canada. There must be Acadian descendants in your (or your husband's) family. ☺
