A perfect day for flowers

Recently I bought some beautiful seasonal Fall flowers at Michael’s for my parent’s grave and decided that the perfect day to bring them would be Sept 29th, which is celebrated in the Catholic religion as The Feast of the Archangels.   It was a cloudy day and was so peaceful & quiet.  It felt so wonderful that morning; not hot.  I could hear birds singing.  Such a perfect day for flowers!

I took a lot of photos.  The view from my parent’s resting place is the leaning statue of Jesus looking & reaching up to Heaven.  As you can tell in the photo, the statue appears to be ‘straight’ but you can see the grass line is at an angle.

The small framed photo is the arrangement I made for Mom & Dad’s grave.  The American flag was placed in their flower vase on Memorial Day in honor of veterans.  I reused it because it was in great shape.  I think that I will try to keep a flag in the vase with the flowers I bring for my parents.  After all, my Dad served in the Navy during WWII.

I loved the color of the Bo Bunny “Evening Mist” page in the Somewhere in Time collection, as well as the “Buttercup Vintage” paper because they both matched so perfectly with the flower arrangement I made!

To add interest to the paper, I used modeling paste to stencil designs from the TCW “Mini Gothic Romance” stencil.  I absolutely love it….especially the Fleur de Lis!

I wanted to scrap these photos for my own personal memories and in thanks to St. Michael for his continued wonderful help.

Here is a close up of the title with all of the pretty flowers.
I used a beautiful font for the title and printed it from my computer.
I centered it using the large baroque die; inked the edges with pigment ink ‘Red Magic’.

I used Tim Holtz Adirondack alcohol inks ‘Stream’ & ‘Sunset Orange’ to recolor the pearls and rhinestones on the Recollections metal flower bouquet.  The stems were gold color so I used Tim Holtz Adirondack ‘Silver Mixative’ to better match with the silver frame.
I hand rubbed some Viva Inka-Gold “Oldsilver” on the Wild Orchid Crafts large red rose.

Thank you SO very much for taking time to visit!  Have a beautiful & memorable day!  Lisa : )

She watches

I’ve been in ‘cat scrapping mode’ lately!  Here is another LO of my sweet, precious Sophie.  My daughter took this awesome photo of Sophie as she lay in my flower garden among the sprouting lilies.  Behind her, the purple verbena was starting to bloom.  Sophie LOVED to lie among the flowers and hide.   Sometimes her amber colored eyes took on a green tone, especially when she was out in the sun.

I decided to do something totally different from how I usually scrap and cut 1” strips of paper; stamped most of them with a flower that looks like hand-drawn loops; then embossed some with a clear kaleidoscope color and others with “the mother of all purples”: Lindy’s Stamp Gang 'Imperial Crown Purple Gold'; lastly I placed them geometrically on the page.   The grays, white & greens in the paper collection I chose by ‘Me & My Big Ideas” seemed perfect for my little gray & white tabby.  The purple verbena gave me the inspiration to add purples.  I love purple.  It’s one of my fave colors.  Amazing how many tones it has.  The purple rhinestones actually look blue-ish next to the other purples (by itself it looks purple though).

Once the strips were down, I used white gesso, deep purple acrylic paint and gunmetal gray metallic acrylic paint to make splatters all over the layout.

I also thought it might be a little artsy to place the left & right sides of the photo in their respective places on either side of the center photo.   I’m not one to really like symmetry, so not centering the photos was on purpose….not a mistake. : )

This is such a busy LO that I decided to add some stenciling and ‘messy’ spreading of modeling paste.  This also gave me a good spot to put the title.  Then came the flowers (deep purple ones have LSG Glitz Spritz 'Scintillating Silver' on them to spruce up the LO a bit); then the rhinestones; resin gate and little stamp that says ‘the best moments’.

Thank you again for taking time to view my blog!  I appreciate it SO very much!
Have a wonderfully memorable day!  Lisa : )

Innsbruck

Well, another month has passed by so quickly!  Time to join another challenge!
Lindy's Stamp Gang September 2014 Color Challenge has such a beautiful color palate!
September Color palette

I chose a photo I took in 2000 during on a European group tour with my daughter.  I was using a Minolta 35mm camera back then.  We were standing next to the rushing waters of the River Inn, Innsbruck, Austria.  Surrounded by the Tyrol Mountains, which are part of the breathtaking Alps, this beautiful picturesque city boasts the Swarovski Haus, Austria's infamous crystal producer, as one of its most enjoyable shops to visit.

First I stamped a design at the top and bottom of the page; then used three embossing powders in the color challenge: Hyacinth Blue Jade (a personal FAVE of mine), Desert Moon Copper Teal, & Madonna Robe Blue Gold.  I did some random stamping on the page with pigment ink color 'Artic Deep' and decorated a couple of them with bling.

I decided to mimic the gorgeous mountains with a checker pattern stencil, which also coordinated with the symmetry of the windows in the buildings.  I used the colors in the photo as my guide.  I chose Lindy's Starburst Teeth Chattering Teal (retired color) because of its opaque white (like the snow caps) and its stunning teal shimmer (like the beautiful blue-green tones on the mountain sides); then I captured the gray tones on the mountain tops by spritzing with Lindy's Starburst Gag Me With A Spoon Gray.

Finally, for the bottom of the mimic mountain, I chose challenge colors Flat Fabios Danny Zuko's Denim & Ocean Breeze Blue, along with a nice coordinating Starburst Mad Hatter Mint chosen because of the minty color in the river and also one of the buildings.

The shimmers in these sprays are absolutely gorgeous!

For a more dramatic effect, I added pearl colored diamond dust to mimic the snow and then some razzle-dazzle sparkle with Swarovski crystal jewelry beads!

The Swarovski crystals just seemed so fitting.  : )

I sprayed the entire layout with all of the above mentioned colors, as well as two more challenge colors Fuzzy Navel Peach & Cowabunga Copper.   I added a darker gray Starburst color Silent Night Silver as well.  Heavier spraying allowed for strategic dripping below where the photo would be placed.

I embossed the title "INNSBRUCK" with Lindy's Adobe Fire
because of its coppery brown color with a beautiful green shimmer.

The green shimmer of this embossing powder is clearly visible in the stenciled ticket.
WOW!   I really love the effect on this!

I colored the date '2000' with LSG Flat Fabio Ocean Breeze Blue
Both the title and year were finished with hand rubbed copper colored wax.

Except for the pale green frosted flower, all of the others were sprayed with Lindy's sprays:
Teeth Chattering Teal (retired), Danny Zuko's Denim, Pearlescents,

This one is so sparkly with the Teeth Chattering Teal color!

Finally, LSG Flat Fabio Ocean Breeze Blue recolored white lilies from Wild Orchid Crafts.
The polka dot flower was spritzed with Fuzzy Navel Peach.

Thanks so much for viewing!  I had a blast creating this layout!

Have a great day!  Lisa : )

One of a Kind - Ab imo pectore

I was thinking of my precious Sophie, so I decided to create another layout of her.
This photo was taken by my daughter in September 2005.

I chose the Maja Design page “Ab imo pectore” in the Crea Diem collection…Not only because of the beautiful light gray damask background (because Sophie was a gray & white tabby) and the pink-lavender accents (girly), but more importantly the interpretation was perfect: “speaking from the heart”.  I think of Sophie often and miss & love her so very much.  Sophie was truly ‘one of a kind’ and she has a huge part of my heart reserved just for loving her.

Because of the theme, (you will see in the close ups below that there are hearts in the background damask design & bottom right corner of this paper), I stenciled and embossed hearts using Want2Scrap’s stencil ‘Love-Cupid-Hearts’.   I painted the model paste hearts with Lindy’sStamp Gang Starburst colors “Gregarious Grey” (retired color), Salt Water Taffy” & “Cranberry Mist Burgundy” (retired color).  I decorated some of the embossed hearts using glitter glue and some were outlined with bling or pearls.

I sprayed different areas of the page with LSG “Gregarious Grey” (retired color), “Cranberry Mist Burgundy” (retired color) & “Salt Water Taffy”.

After a coat of gesso on the chipboard title, I embossed it with the beautiful LSG color “Silver Moon Orchid”; then put touches of pigment ink color ‘Velvet’ to make it stand out.

Check out this close up of the large (40 mm) Wild Orchid Crafts Wild Rose that I sprayed with LSG “Gregarious Grey” (retired color).  This is a stunning light gray with a pink shimmer.  I LOVE this color!  WOW!  No other word for it!  I'm so sad that LSG has retired this color.  : (

I chose this particular lace because of its heart shaped openings.
It was pink, but after a heavy coat of the gorgeous LSG Starburst “Gregarious Grey” (retired color)
the color is now outstanding!

I formed the heart shapes using
 Want2Scrap tear drop silver rhinestones.

Dad you are so very loved ~ Happy Birthday!

Happy September 15th Birthday Dad!

I always tell my Dad ‘happy birthday’ the morning of his birthday.  I know he hears me from Heaven.  Dad passed away 9/4/2011, just shy of his 85th birthday.   This year, for his birthday, I decided to scrap a page with one of my most FAVORITE photos of him.
Here it is:

This photo was taken at Christmas in 1978 (he was 52 yrs old).  My father LOVED a good time and a good laugh.  He put on my sister’s suede ‘cowgirl style’ hat.  He was so funny!   He had such big fingers.  I sure miss him, but the great memories I have of him sustain my smile when I think of him.  God bless his old soul.

I wanted to keep this page simple, but masculine.  I really liked the colors in the Kaisercraft 'Curiosity' collection.  They matched so well with the reddish hat, ivory shirt & gold tones in the photo.  As you can see, there is a circular lattice design in the papers, so that is why I chose the same for the stencil.  I added some microbeads here and there to rest on a few of the curved areas in the stenciling.
Regular manila tags were sprayed with LSG Starburst color "Opal Sea Oats" and I love the look achieved.  Then I decorated using butterfly cut outs, words & tags from the collection.

I wanted to share a close up of the larger tag I made.  The saying is spot on!
“enjoy the small things in life for one day you may look back
and realize they were the big things”

What an inspiration to live by!

Lastly, here is a close up of my Dad & the smaller tag I made.
Such a good looking man….and he truly is so very loved.

Thanks for taking time to stop by.  Have a wonderful day!  Lisa : )

JANE ~new Bo Bunny “Madeleine” collection~

The brand new Bo Bunny “Madeleine” collection is absolutely stunning!  Such beautiful mints, pinks, golden yellows & even burgundy!  As soon as it arrived I knew I had to scrap my beautiful Mom!

Although no date is on this portrait, I believe it is 1951 because she has on wedding rings, plus her hair style is indicative of how she wore it around this time.  I decided to do something a little different and colorize her lips and eyes.  Mom had dark brown eyes and usually wore brownish-red lipstick.  I am quite excited how this turned out:

Mom loved pretty things, as well as tasteful bling, so I loaded up this layout with pretty flowers, lace and a little bit of bling.  She also loved birds, so I cut out the pink oval frame with the birds on it from the collection and positioned it to overlap onto her photo.  Also from the collection, I chose several embellishments: chipboard flag, brad & piece of the film sticker, all depicting birds.  I named this layout in my dear mother's name: Jane.
She was such a beautiful lady!  And she always had style!

The title letters are Pink Paislee MIST-a-bles alpha chipboard that was sprayed with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst “Salt Water Taffy”.  It is the softest pink ever!  Then I decorated the letters with beautiful Wild Orchid Crafts roses.

This photo also shows the beautiful damask stencil using modeling paste.

These baby pink lilies from Wild Orchid Crafts were sprayed with LSG Glitz Spritz “Scintillating Silver” to give them a shimmery shine.  This is by far my most favorite glitz spritz that Lindy’s has!  I use it all the time. Good thing I have a new bottle waiting to be used because I’m almost out : )  I added some white resin mini lilies from the wedding section at Hobby Lobby.  Check out the shimmer!

I clustered some beautiful Wild Orchid Crafts mulberry flowers in white, mint, yellow & pink tones.  Some of the flowers are sprayed with the LSG Glitz Spritz silver.  To the Michael’s teal colored clothespin flower, I added pink diamond dust and some bling.

Thanks again for stopping by and have a wonderful day!  Lisa : )
