A Note to a Special Friend

I made a card so I could write a special note inside to my dear friend, Carrie.
I like posting things that I create so I can look back and remember them.

I created the base of the card with blue-gray cardstock from Michael's Recollections "Rainy Days" collection.

A distressed piece from 49 and Market Scents of Nature collection Fly Away was
adhered to the cardstock and then stenciled with Platinum Crackle paste.

A pretty fussy cut piece was placed with foam tape for a little dimension.

Prills & Flower Soft were added to the flower centers.

Silver colored metal corner pieces & cute little bee stickers completed the decorations.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a great week!

Pretty as a Picture (2nd layout for Blue Fern Studios October Fan of the Month)

Today I'm very happy and excited to show you the second layout I've created
as the Blue Fern Studios October Fan of the Month!

This is my beautiful Mom when she was just 18 years old in 1948.
I knew this lovely photo would be perfect for the breathtaking page named
Picturesque in the Blue Fern Studios Homespun collection!

My designs always coordinate around pretty paper, rather than covering it up.
That's exactly what I've done here.
Not only is the gorgeous paper a stand out, but so are all of the embellishments!

Every one of my creations has special meaning for me in some way.
This one of course is my dear mother, but also I noticed that she's wearing a pearl necklace.
I rummaged through the costume/faux jewelry pieces of hers and found a pearl necklace!
Some snippets from it really add a little bit more of 'her' in this layout.

I was especially excited to see things about sewing in this gorgeous Homespun collection!
My mother could sew very well and often made dresses for me when I was a child.
She later made many of them for my daughter too!

I fussy cut & edge inked some ornate scissors from the Crafty page.
They fit nicely at the bottom of the 'frame'.

On the Calling Cards page were lots of choices too!
The 'Simple Sewing Cards' is adorable and a great corner fit!
Also, how perfect it is to use the word 'Homemade'.
A Homespun Bloom really dressed up these cute cards!

The photo is placed on cardboard for added dimension & then framed by a pretty floral piece
that is found on the backside of the Picturesque page.
The beautiful Blue Fern chipboard piece, Royal Border, is heat embossed in Rusty Rose.
The entire piece was then lightly brushed with matte gel and heavily coated with Ruby Slippers glitter.
I let this dry and set, then brushed off excess areas with my fingertip and a dry paint brush.
Look how gorgeous it turned out!

I made two matching flower clusters for each side of the photo with the pretty Homespun Blooms.
Red Christmas berry picks were added to match the printed ones on the page!
Blue Fern's beautiful flesh toned Lace 3 was the perfect size.

Thank you so much for stopping by today.
I'm anxious to get started on next Wednesday's layout and I hope you'll be back to see it!
Have a great week everyone!

Thinking of You (handmade card for a friend)

Hello everyone.  I know that it's been a while since I've posted anything, but I've been really down in the dumps since our little Pepper passed away & along with other set backs, I just haven't felt like creating.

However, I was very honored to have been asked to share well wishes with a very sweet lady who is ill.
She really needs to know that her friends are thinking about her and praying for her.

I made her a card & pocket-envelope using Blue Fern Studios Spring Parade paper collection.
The pocket-envelope is 8-1/2" long x 6" high.
I used Sweet Grape colored seam binding for a little handle.
My favorite color is purple, so I wanted to share a little piece of me with this dear lady.
Rub-on glitter butterflies and a pretty white pearl swirl piece completed the envelope decorations.

The card is 6" x 6".
I decorated the front of it with Spellbinders Victorian Medallion Two, die cut in white cardstock.
The "Thinking of you" sentiment is printed on BFS paper; die cut with Spellbinders Victorian Tags
adhered with foam tape for dimension and placed to the left bottom of the medallion.
It's edge inked with Wisteria color.

Decorations were completed with a small arrangement of pretty roses from Wild Orchid Crafts
Tattered Lace rose leaves die cuts; floral fussy cuts from the BFS Spring Parade collection papers;
and lilac pearls along the printed lace edge.

I wrote a personal note inside the card for this dear lady.  I've blocked her name for privacy purposes.
I sure hope she starts feeling better soon.

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful weekend!
