Carmel's Bestfriend Tag

For quite a while, I've been trying to come up with the 
most profound & meaningful words possible 
to describe how I feel about the 44-year friendship 
I've had with my dearest BFF, Carmel.

The More Than Words Mini Challenge for June is to use the word "YOU".

Carmel, her husband and I recently saw the movie Rocketman, 
produced by Elton John, about his life.
Fabulous movie, by the way!

Well the "light clicked on" and Hallelujah there it was!!

How wonderful life is while YOU're in the world.

Tim Holtz's grunge letters spell the word YOU and

they're inked in a very dark brown called Jumbo Java;

 and then each is saturated in TH's Tea Dye Stickles.

I'm a little hooked right now on shaker making,
so two layered "O's" are filled with my concoction of 
tiny seed beads, round beads & metal flower beads.
A bit is also added on top of the "O" and "U".

To hide the white foam pieces from showing on the outside edge of the "O", 

I used lots of Tea Dye colored Stickles in between the layers.   

Once the computer printed words and the "YOU" letters were adhered in place,

coordinating flowers & leafy die cuts were added.  

This is the back of the tag.

Finally, but never the least and always the beautiful finishing touch....

Reneabouquet's stunning butterflies are placed in the perfect spots!

They are just gorgeous!

I added antennae & coated the bodies in TH's Tea Dye Stickles.

Evelyn 1902

In 2014, I discovered Evelyn Nesbit in my computer search for vintage ladies.

She was an early 1900's Super Model with an interesting life story.

I was totally obsessed and so I made several layouts of her. 

Among these creations, I have a few favorites that hang as decor in my home.

This is the layout I made today.

I've been redecorating my home, using my layouts, as a change and new direction in my life. 
All are hung by Velcro Command Picture Hanging Strips in each corner - no nail holes!

I have a spare bedroom that I found a quilt for the bed that has purples in the design.
Another Evelyn Nesbit layout was needed to coordinate with one I created in 2014.

Here are the two, side by side.

"Evelyn 1902" - Created today in June 2019 Fabscraps French Heritage paper collection "Lilac Delight 1"

I used many of the same embellishments so these layouts would look good together.
To start, same beautiful Evelyn Nesbit in 1902; her name "Evelyn" in black; purple as the main color; same paper collection; distressed layout edges with purple cardstock underneath to accent; distressed photo & the paper under it; diamond-shaped bling; identical thimble embellishment, with both being heat embossed in Lindy's Stamp Gang EP color Silver Moon Orchid (retired); a silver key wrapped in rosebuds; Stickles applied to the printed roses on the paper; silver bead berry spray clusters; gray stick-on pearls; metal corner pieces;  Wild Orchid Crafts roses and white lace Prima flowers. 

I've entered my new layout in this month's Challenge at More than Words.

Friendship Shaker Tag for Rocky

My Friendship with Rocky is very special.

It truly enriches my life! 

I'm so blessed to have her as a great friend.

So, I made her a tag to let her know this.

I used an older Maja Design collection that I absolutely LOVE...Enjoying Outdoors.

I'm such a purple-holic. 

First, the papers and chipboard are cut.

Although the very thin die isn't able to cut all the way through chipboard,
it does cut it enough to make it easy to finish with a pair of scissors.

The papers are adhered to the chipboard and the sides inked in Raisin color.
The tag size is 4-1/2" x 7-3/4".

Next, I die cut and adhered the circles to form the shaker part of the tag.

Clear acetate, die cut in a solid circle, is glued to the back.
For added stability, an open circle is die cut using thin cardboard sheet & glued on top of the acetate. 
(I use the thin package cardboard insert that comes in a 24-pack of canned cat food >^..^<)

I've been so anxious to use my newest purchase of Buttons Galore shaker sequin mixes 
in their 28 Lilac Lane collection.  
This one is "Plum Fancy", which is a mix of purples & clear round sequins and stars.

I also mixed in a few seed beads in purple, lavender & green. 

 I placed the sequin mix where I was going to put the circle shaker. 

After lining the backside of the circle piece with adhesive foam....

it was placed on top of the sequin mix pile to create the shaker.
Voila!

I love 'resurrecting' some older stash. 

I added the beautiful printed chipboard dragonfly from K&Company - Susan Winget collection...  

A pretty flower arrangement finishes the front of the tag.

The word 'Friendship' is computer printed using the same paper that's on the back of the tag.

A tag hole is punched and seam binding is run through and tied.

I made a pocket for the backside of the tag, using one of the journaling cards from this paper collection.
A small die cut tag is placed in the pocket and has a personal written note to Rocky.

Jolee's Boutique dimensional stickers from my older stash spruced up the back of the tag!
