You are very special (Card) ~ Blue Fern Studios papers

I designed and created a special card with a custom envelope for my dear friend, Lorna, who has been such a comfort for me through tough times.  She was a true best friend for my mother. When I was caring for Mom, Lorna and I became close. After Mom passed away, she and I grew even closer.  Lorna is very loved by so many people because she has a heart of gold.  I love her to death!
I had an overwhelming desire to make something special for her and this is how it all turned out.........

Lorna loves red, so I made sure to use papers with nice hints of garnet red in it.   Blue Fern Studios has the most gorgeous, vintage papers!  Also, I have had the Tim Holtz Mixed Media dies for quite a while but this is the first time I've used them. My inspiration is from the beautiful work of Pascale Bernard.

I began by distressing a 5" x 5" very pretty piece of Blue Fern Studios paper, making sure to include the lovely printed bird and flowers.  Using coordinating paper, I die cut the lattice design and glued it on. Then I die cut the leaves.  I was introduced to Tattered Lace dies by Tracy Funk.  Just type in "tattered lace" in the search box on her blog to view some of the gorgeous layouts she made using the Tattered Lace Fern dies!  She always comes up with the coolest scrapbooking products!  I find that these dies cut super easy!  To me, they beat all other thin dies for ease of use.  I layered the leaves and added beautiful Wild Orchid Crafts roses with a cute triple tied bow.  Then I decorated the lattice die cut with white pearls.  The 5x5 piece was then adhered with foam tape to the main card.

Of course, back tracking a bit...The very first thing I did was run the main card piece through my printer to print the inside sentiment "You are very special".   I made sure to print this in the right area so that the pretty printed roses would make a beautiful corner piece and leave enough room for me to write her a special note.

On part of the left inside of the card, I stenciled latticework using Prima Finnabair Clear Crackle Texture Paste mixed with Lindy's Stamp Gang mica powder color Salt Water Taffy found in the Nantucket Pearls Magicals set.  After it was completely dry, I rubbed on Creamy Brown ink to highlight and bring it out more.  A few flat flowers, die cut leaves and a rub-on butterfly completed this part of the card.

With the card completed, I created a simple envelope for it.  It measures 6-1/2" x 5-3/4" and almost 1/2" wide.  I designed the envelope around the beautiful printed paper ~ a musical score and bird on a branch. A few added decorations:  The same green paper used to die cut all of the leaves was also used for the lattice piece; a couple of pretty flowers and done.....

So relaxing ~ so enjoyable!
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week, Lisa : )
