Jessica's Flowers

In early December 2024,

I was gifted a BEAUTIFUL grouping of framed watercolored flowers

from my sweet friend, Jessica.

Her talent is truly amazing!

I expected ONE flower, but she went beyond with FOUR!

They are a stunning addition to my livingroom!!

They look fabulous with my furniture

and have a well-deserved wall all to themselves!

Jessica and I met on Scrapbook.com years ago.

Today, our commonalities are faith, love of Christ & art.

I promised Jessica, after receiving her stunning gifts,

that I would hand draw and color her some flowers.

She loves ALL flowers and ALL colors!

You would think this would be easy for me......

After going through countless disappointments and frustrations,

drawing and redrawing, with feelings of total defeat,

I eventually chose to use some of the already hand drawn flowers

that I had done for friend's birthday cards in 2025.

These drawings were all extremely difficult for me,

so using them was the right thing to do.

I reduced them in size & then printed them on colored pencil paper.

I cut out each flower with a circle die and each is hand colored.

These circles are placed around

an oval located in the center of the layout,

which contains Jessica's state flower - the Dogwood;

the only newly hand drawn flower in this layout,

but even that was a challenge getting it proportioned!

I surrounded the dogwood flower with a favorite saying of mine

using Monotype Corsiva font:

"The Earth laughs in flowers".

It's perfect as the centerpiece!

I chose an indigo navy textured cardstock for the background

because I wanted all of the flowers to stand out.

Using mulberry flowers, die cut leaves, leafy chipboards,

colorful enamel dots & various pretty bling,

I decorated the page in between the hand drawn flowers.

I wanted Jessica's layout to be filled with beautiful colors

and a multitude of different kinds of flowers.

After many delays with hand drawing cards in 2025

and the many procrastinations because of my lack of confidence,

I finally completed and sent Jessica her flowers!

I wish Jessica many blessings

and look forward to many more years of friendship with her.
