My New Kalour Colored Pencils

For Christmas, I gifted myself 5 new adult coloring books
and
a set of 180 colored pencils by Kalour
as well as a new colored pencil case for them.

Let me first start with the pros I see with this set.
As I've read about them, they have many vibrant colors in the set.
Also, they are very inexpensive.

Here are photos of some of them already placed in my new colored pencil case.
I didn't photograph the grays.

Blues & Purples

Greens-Yellows-Oranges

Metallics

Pinks-Reds-Browns

Now for my cons about this colored pencil set.
You get what you pay for.
They aren't "bad", however they aren't up to par
with the professional colored pencils.

This set of 180 Kalour colored pencils costs $37USD.
(wax based)

In comparison, my set of 150 Prismacolor Premiers,
which are my MOST FAVORITE of the colored pencils I own,
costs $151USD.
(wax based)

The other professional colored pencils I own are
a set of 120 Faber-Castell Polychromos.
These cost $155USD.
(oil based)

The other cons of Kalour colored pencils is that they don't have the smooth feel
of the more professional pencils.
They also don't blend nearly as easily and smoothly as the pro pencils do.
I would compare them to Crayola brand colored pencils.
I don't think Crayola OR Kalour are to be discounted
because they have great colors and can produce nice colorings.

My assessments are based solely on
how they FEEL when being applied;
how they blend;
how they flow across the page.

I think Kalour would be a fabulous set to own, regardless,
and especially for those not wanting to invest too much into the cost of coloring.

Happy coloring!
Happy New Year!
Have a blessed year ahead,
Lisa
