Father Paul's Stations of the Cross Stamp Collection

 Reverend Paul Jussen, my Catholic priest where I attend church,
knows that I'm 'crafty' because he's been to my house numerous times when he brings his sweet dog, Rex, so I can watch him while he goes to a function.
He sees the walls of my craftroom full of framed scrapbook pages that I've created
& my coloring books open with colored pencils scattered nearby on my craft table.
So, he asked if I would mount his stamp collection and frame them.

I accepted, even though it made me really, really nervous as HELL. LOL!
I first bought the frame, which is distressed and has nail marks on it.
Father Paul loved it!

Next, I applied double sided tape to the back of each stamp.
Each stamp measures slightly over 1" wide and 1-3/4" long.
I measured the doubled sided tape to size;
then carefully applied it to the backs of the 14 stamps.

I next made somewhat of a template.
I'm documenting this process and the measurements,
because Father Paul loved it so much that he's thinking about purchasing another set of stamps and having me do it all over again so he can give it as a gift.
YIKES!  😬😮

These stamps were originally designed and sold by the country of Jordan in 1966.
They are available today on EBay, which came as a comfort for me, incase I messed up, at least I could buy another set easily! 😉😁

I first cut jet black cardstock to 8" x 10" size.
I taped it down with easy lift tape that wouldn't damage it when removed.
Once I laid the stamps out, I was able to determine the measurements needed to properly distance each from the other, as well as centered on the cardstock.

Measurements as follows:

5/8" from Top
 5/8" from Bottom
 3/4" on the sides
 5/8" between each stamp in a row
 1/2" between top/bottom rows and center row
 Each of 4 stamps in the center row are placed with the center of each stamp being lined up with the center between the two stamps above it.

BELIEVE ME, I measured & re-measured many times!
When you work on your own project, it's not nerve-racking the way it is when you're doing something requested by someone, especially a person who is important to you AND it involves as close to precise measuring as possible.
PHEW! 😅
However, I kept in the back of my mind that I COULD order a new stamp set
if I needed to, which offered some relief to my troubled mind.

Here is the process documented:

1. Cut strips for sides & top and bottom;
then taped them down to hold in place.
Top/Bottom = 5/8"
Sides = 3/4"

2. Adhered the four corner stamps first.

3. Using a Carpenter's Square to keep the stamps aligned,
I measured 5/8"; placed the stamp; repeated between each.
(You can see this between the 1st stamp on the left and the one next to it.)

4. Top row adhered.
(the 4th stamp is very slightly higher than the others.) 😔

5. Bottom row now adhered.

6. Taped down 1/2" strip
on bottom of top row & on top of bottom row.

7. Adhered middle row of stamps.

8. Frame without the glass

9. Frame with the glass

Father Paul asked me what he could do as a thank you
for doing this project for him.
I asked him to pray for me.
He said he'd dedicate a Mass to me.
You can't ask for better than that!
🙏
