Nugget's Bliss

Nugget is the cutest miniature Schnauzer-Yorkie mix

with the personality to match!

She was rescued by Frances, my BFF's daughter.

Nugget is almost completely blind but you wouldn't even know it.
She sure steals your heart the minute you meet her!

Frances captured this precious, awesome photo of Nugg (her nickname)

basking in the sun with her little eyes closed.

Look at the TOTAL BLISS on her sweet face!

The colors chosen for this layout were based on the color scheme Frances decorates her home with.

I found out that she has mostly neutral tones 

because she likes to add pops of color as accents. (very smart!)

She specifically mentioned teal.

So using her color scheme, this is what I came up with.

Well, it's hard to match blue-teal unless you have it right in front of you. 
But a precious little girl does deserve some pink & yellow too!

Here are a couple more photos of the arrangements I made using Wild Orchid Crafts flowers.

The beginning of the creation process was to find the right paper, of course.

Blue Fern Studios Happy Accident and Happy Accident 2 collections are perfect!

First I stenciled the main page with Prima's Royal Managerie Decor #1. 

It has the perfect 'dreamy' look. Doesn't little Nugget seem to be day dreaming?
I did only a few areas because I wanted it to look like her little thoughts floating from her mind.

Creative Embellishments chipboard pieces proved to be fitting.

The Showered with Love Border is just gorgeous!

I sparingly brushed it with dry (non-diluted) white gesso in random areas;

then lightly sprayed it with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst color Sassy Sapphire.

YES!

To this beautiful piece, I added some ceramic white flowers with baby pink centers.

For a pretty and dainty background for Nugget's photo, 

I chose Cheery Lynn (now Maker's Movement) dies - 

Horizon Square and Horizon French Flair.

The photo is placed with a piece of thick cardboard underneath.
The die cut under the photo is raised with foam tape so it could fit over the top of the chipboard border.

Both dies are cut from the BFS Happy Accident2 paper & are edge inked in Creamy Brown chalk ink.

The other Creative Embellishments chipboard I used is the corner piece.

I decided to leave it raw and unfinished because it's the perfect brown color!

It serves as a 'base' for the flower arrangement and the layout title.

I colored The Dusty Attic's Teeny Tiny ABC letters to create the title.

First I primed them with white gesso; 

then generously painted them with Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst color Sassy Sapphire.

WOW!

How BEAUTIFUL!

For a final beautiful touch, 

Reneabouquet's GORGEOUS butterflies were added!

These beauties were perfect because of the brown and teal coloring.

I altered them slightly to best suit my layout - 

removed the turquoise rhinestone & changed the antennae to bronze.

Zeus' Perpetual Smile

Zeus is my next door neighbor.

He's a French Bulldog and what a character he is!

I'm lucky to be able to babysit him now and then, even for a whole week sometimes!

Miss Gali & Lucy (my sweet cats) aren't thrilled when these times occur, 

but a protective gate with a small pass-through door (too small for Zeus' big head-LOL!)
 allows them to wander throughout the house while Zeus is sleeping in his kennel. hee hee

and Zeus is no exception!

I began with the perfect page in the Blue Fern Studios Happy Accident collection.
Zeus' photo was adhered to cardboard for added dimension and placed on the page.
Using BFS Flourish chipboard and their EP color Goldilocks, the design began to fall into place.

The page was splattered with black gesso. 
Each flourish was then decorated with a flower arrangement.
The handwritten title was placed on the larger of the two flourishes.

Die cut leaves are stamped in jet black archival ink.

Reneabouquets butterflies are a fabulous addition to spruce up the page!

Here you can see my hand drawn thread-look edging.

 It's been such a very long time since I've been able to or be in the mood to create.
It felt really good to create again!

dogs have OWNERS ~ cats have STAFF

Much thought went into this and I finally took the plunge and started cutting.

This is a dish towel I discovered while waiting in line at JC Penney in December.

Obviously, I fell in love with it!

Now, please don't get me wrong.....I LOVE LOVE LOVE dogs too!

For those that keep up with me you already know this.

But I just couldn't resist because I agree 100% with this statement!

I certainly wasn't going to use this as an 'actual' dish towel, 

so I decided to frame it and include my precious sweet girls!

I first spray painted a white 12x12 scrapbook frame with Satin Almond color.

Then I searched online for the perfect 'cadet blue' (blue-gray).....

FOUND IT!

Here it is and what a beautiful color!

After a few coats and allowing proper drying, I then sanded the frame just a bit.

I was really hoping that the almond color would come through, but it didn't. 

That's ok though, it still looks lovely!

I also decided the best 'mount' that I could use for the towel was a canvas.  

So I grabbed one of my 12 x 12 canvas panels and spray painted it in luscious Coastal Blue.

I didn't want to use glue, so I decided the best way was to use my staple gun.

I spray painted a row of staples to match and it worked beautifully!

I wanted to be able to change the photos in the future so I used Recollections clothespins to hold the photos onto the towel.  I raised the photos by placing cardboard underneath for added dimension.  Miss Gali is shy and timid and literally looks away most of the time when I have a camera or my iphone in her face!  I swear, I'm going to capture those beautiful blue eyes of hers in the right light.  I'm determined!
